A great snow season coming to an end.

Looks like this cold and snowy season is winding down if you believe the forecasts.  Looks like next week will put an end to the season at least here in Northern Illinois.  We did get to test out a new rig today for grooming in the future.  Check out the short video we made today.  Hopefully we can use a vehicle like this in the coming years.  One of our goals this off season is to really improve our local trails.  And that would mean grooming of course.

Hope to see you all at our Races and Swap on October 5, 2014 and stop by the Boone County Fair in August and see us at our new portable building adjacent to the main gate.

2013-14 Trails

Hello folks,

December 15th and the first day that trails are open in Boone County. That is if we have 4 inches of snow so keep that in mind. Also please respect land owners and adjacent land owners. It is getting harder and harder to have any trail system. We make every effort to find and mark danger points but you must still use caution when riding. Have fun and follow the rules.

Snowmobile Trail Rules
1. Sleds must be registered to ride these state funded trails ( Atv’s are not registered and cannot use the trails legally. )

2. Trails open December 15th – March 15th ( with a minimum of 4 inches of Snow )

3. These state funded trails run on private lands and public rite of ways.( respect this land and its owners or they can and will close the trails at their discretion ) Stay on the marked trail only do not wander on their property.

4. All trail signs and posts are property of the Illinois Association of Snowmobile Clubs and were provided with The State of Illinois Department of Conservation grants. The removal, vandalism, or possession trail signs is a crime, and the fine can be up to $500.00

5. Liability Insurance is Required by State Law.

20th Annual Grass Drags & Powersports Swap Meet October 6, 2013

The Prairie Riders Snowmobile Club will hold our 20th Grass Drag & Power Sports Swap Meet this October 6, 2013.  Located at the Boone County Fairgrounds in Belvidere, Illinois.  Please come and celebrate 20 great years of fun.

Our Snowmobile Grass Drags will take place on a 500 foot 4 lane track with 1,100 feet of shutdown.   As in the past we run for Trophies only to keep our entry fees low and allow participation for everyone.   A very diverse group of racers compete with us each year, from the first time racers to veteran semi and pro racers.  This is the place to come out and try grass dragging for the first time or 100th. time.   We expect 125-175 race entries with registration from 8-10 am and Racing beginning at 11:00 am.  We run 20 classes including Stock, improved, Modified, Vintage and a Mini Class for kids that is free, all kids receive a trophy.   All Classes are listed below on our Registration sheet which you can download.

Update:   Stock 1100 Turbo will now be Improved 1100 Turbo. ( you must run a stock oem turbo )

The registration sheet download at the bottom of the page has been updated to reflect this new class.

Last year we rolled out our Race America Timing System.  This represents a big investment for the Prairie Riders and has been a few years in the making.  This will provide us and you the racers with a truly professional event.

Our Swap Meet continues to grow dramatically each year, last year we had 300 swappers and 20 Vendors.  It has become the largest snowmobile event held each year in Illinois.  While still primarily a snowmobile swap meet, there are many other power sports items in the Swap Meet.  We see increases each year in all types of power sports in the swap area including ATV’s, Dirt Bikes and more. Remember your $10 Swap Site Fee is for one site as big as you need.  If you have 2 Vehicles you need two sites.
