State and Region 5 Report: Wayne and Shirley were in attendance from Region 5. Shirley gave us information on the Convention in November. This year’s convention will be at the Holidome/Holiday Inn- Rolling Meadows, Nov. 7, 8 & 9, 2008. The room rates are $89.00/night. Book by Oct. 6 and mention IASC for the special rate. The convention package will be $55. If you reserve by Sept. 15, you will be entered into an early bird special drawing. The drawing will be at the luncheon on Saturday. Friday night will have many activities for the family. Saturday morning will be the annual meeting. One new idea is to have a snow show, but this is not finalized. There will be two seminars – cold weather conditions/clothing and snowmobile mechanics. Saturday evening will be a dinner/dance with three mini raffles. This hotel is close to the Woodfield mall and a shuttle bus will be available between the hotel and mall. With the lower pricing and changes in the convention, they hope to increase the attendance. They are also asking clubs to donate items or cash ($150.00 value) for the fundraising auction. Suggestions are welcome.
